Going Live! / by Chris.Dot

Beautiful People,

welcome to another issue of Love Letters on the Walls, where an ancient soul, myself, depict and speak on some of my favorite comics while also journaling my career journey into the world of comic book writing. Almost a year into doing these regularly, I’ve been thinking of ways to be more interactive while reaching out to more people with these comic reviews and journalism and the answer keeps reverting back to ‘social media'.’

Just in time for fall reading, I will be taking some of those love letters from the walls of caves, bringing them into the future for Love Letters in Code; a new TikTok and Live show from yours truly. More details to come as I prepare for launch, late August and wrap up some other projects in the works.

Speaking of projects,

American Bane has found its illustrator in Argentinian artist Sergio Ibanez. I’m also wrapping up Issue 3’s script to the 5 part series, Tru Kung Fu, which will hopefully find an artist and publisher really soon! In the meantime, don’t forget you can always read more stuff over at GlobalComix and just search Chris.Dot.

THE READS

And now, what I assume most of you are here for, what I’ve been reading.

MR. TERRIFIC YEAR ONE

Starting back in June, DC’s Mr. Terrific is back with a new telling of his classic story when Michael Holt is prepared to throw his life away after losing his family, his job, and the icing on the cake: the death of his best friend. Visited by the past and the will of God in the form of The Spectre, Michael has a difficult choice to make when faced with the astronomical truths of his purpose and decisions in the universe. With only two issues out at the moment and written by newcomer comic writer, Al Letson, I’m actually digging where this story is headed and looking forward to delving deeper into what makes Mr. Terrific, fair play!

I WAS A FASHION SCHOOL SERIAL KILLER

From the mind of Doug Wagner, a new twisted tale of blood, skin, and fashion. Painted vividly in blood, I Was A Fashion School Serial Killer follows as Rennie Bethary tries her hand at the top New York Fashion school while submitting original works of deadly fashion, tailored from her victims of a murderous ‘itch’. Typically a loner due to her hobbies, Rennie finds friendship where least expected before crossed with a choice: fashion or friends. Dive into this 5 issue series from Image Comics with the conclusion coming up this August! To which, i’ll leave my full review after it has concluded.

WOLVERINE & KITTY PRYDE (2025)

Back from the 80s with a follow up on their journey through Japan, Chris Clairmont takes on Wolverine and Kitty Pryde once again for an epic adventure of ancestry and purpose. Picking up right where they left off while incorporating some of the new changes in the X-Men world, Wolverine attempts to fix his relationship with Mariko before being hunted by a mysterious figure who is stalking them, including Kitty Pryde’s father, Carmen. Time travel through Wolverine and Mariko’s past while trying to save Kitty Pryde’s future seems like a reoccurring dream for Chris Clairmont in this continuation of Wolverine and Kitty Pryde, out now!

And so that concludes this issue of Love Letters on the Walls. Don’t forget to follow me on social media for your daily dose of comic book heaven in Love Letters in the Code. Always remember, with compassion and empathy as the foundation for anything, keep writing, keep reading, keep creating and tuning in!
